Medical Guide: Kuru in DayZ

Kuru (Brain Prion Disease) is a psychological and physical illness contracted exclusively by practicing cannibalism in DayZ. Once contracted, its symptoms are permanent and loud, making stealth or precise shooting impossible.

To prevent Kuru, never eat human steaks, fat, or guts. Be extremely careful when playing in groups or accepting food from strangers: always verify the origin of any fat or meat, as human fat looks identical to animal fat when cooked.

If you have contracted Kuru, there is no medicine, pill, or cure in the game. The only way to rid yourself of Kuru is to die and respawn, or have a teammate end your suffering.

Causes

• Consuming human meat, fat, or viscera (whether raw, cooked, or rotten)

Symptoms

• Uncontrollable hysterical laughter and crying
• Severe muscle tremors making aiming difficult
• Erratic jerky movements
