Medical Guide: Hypothermia in DayZ

Hypothermia is a severe threat on maps like Namalsk or during cold rainstorms in Chernarus. If your body temperature drops to freezing levels, your health will begin to drain directly, and your maximum health bar will shrink.

To prevent hypothermia, keep your clothes dry and in pristine shape. Ruined clothes lose all thermal insulation value. Squeeze wet clothes to dry them out, and carry a heat pack or hot cooked meat in your jacket slots.

If you are suffering from hypothermia, immediately build a Campfire or seek shelter inside a house. Change into dry, high-insulation clothes, and consume hot food or drinks to warm up your core body temperature from the inside.

• Prolonged exposure to extreme cold temperatures
• Wearing wet, damp, or ruined clothing
• Leaving body parts uncovered in freezing weather
